Frequently asked questions

Straight answers.

Safety and the law

Are these pumps safe?

Yes, provided you follow a few rules. Screw the hose threads in tightly to avoid leaks, open and close the valves at the right time, and keep matches, lighters, cigarettes, mobile phones and anything else that can make a spark or flame away from the pump while it is running.

Is gas transfer legal?

The rules are different in every country, so please check the rules where you live before you order. We export only and do not sell these pumps in India.

How much pressure can the pumps work with?

A maximum of 22 kg/cm², or 21.5 bar.

Can I run the pump dry, without gas?

The manual and diaphragm pumps can run dry, but we do not recommend it.

Using the pump

Can I transfer gas from one LPG or propane cylinder to another?

Yes, from a bigger tank to a smaller tank. Transferring from a smaller tank to a bigger one needs a higher-pressure pump.

How long does a transfer take?

A 15 kg cylinder takes 7 to 8 minutes with a DC or AC pump, and 12 to 14 minutes with the manual pump.

Why must the cylinder face downward during transfer?

LPG is transferred as a liquid, and the upper part of an upright cylinder holds gas. Turning the cylinder downward brings the liquid to the outlet, so the transfer is easy.

Will the pump empty the cylinder completely?

Almost. As the last of the liquid leaves, a small portion turns to gas and stays in the upper part of the cylinder, so roughly 2 to 3% remains behind.

Can I run the pump from a car battery?

Yes. The 12V pump runs off a car battery. A 0.5 HP motor at 12 volts draws about 30 to 40 amps at full load, so connect it directly to the battery terminals, not to the cigarette-lighter socket.

Can I carry the pump with me?

Yes. All the pumps are small enough to carry anywhere.

Can the pumps be used for anything else?

Yes. The diaphragm pumps can serve as gas or air sampling pumps, and customers also use them as farm sprayer pumps and car wash pumps.

Parts and repairs

Are the pumps supplied with hoses?

Yes. Every pump comes with an inlet hose and an outlet hose, with their valves. Cylinder and car connectors differ from country to country, so you add the connector used where you live.

What else is in the box?

Everything needed to start: hoses, valves and wires. The pump arrives ready to use.

Can I repair the pump myself?

Yes. The part that wears is the diaphragm, and anyone can change it easily. Spare diaphragms come in the box.

Are spares easy to get?

Yes. We keep all spares in stock.
